Eventide 3 released!

The third part of the Slavic legends series is out there for you to enjoy. I designed the story line and tweaked and polished most of the gameplay. Eventide 3: Legacy of Legends takes you to Vyrai, Slavic heaven, a magical land over the rainbow, ruled by the Clouder King. As you can expect, it’s full of magic and ancient Slavic lore.

Eventide 3 coming soon!

The third part of the Slavic mythology themed series is soon to be released. As with the previous two, magical Slavic creatures and forgotten Slavic gods are important part of the design. I am especially proud of the collectibles: a deck of cards with Slavic gods and goddesses, beautifully illustrated and briefly narrated by yours truly. So if you like Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure games and have an interest in Slavic myths, buy it, play it and (I hope) enjoy it!

It’s always good to have something you’ve worked on out there. So let me be happy and proud about it.

New game being tested

Second part of the Eventide series was sent to beta testers yesterday. First gameplay videos are already on youtube,  therefore I can say a little bit more about the game. It is of course a HOPA (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure). It’s based on the Polish legend about Tvardovsky – a sorcerer that received his magical powers from the pact with the devil. He was known for bringing back a ghost of Polish queen and showing this ghost to the king in the magical mirror.

Hence the title of the game: The Sorcerer’s Mirror.

We’ve twisted the story a little, wondering what would happen if Tvardovsky was indeed immortal and had lived in some hidden place to this day.

I created the whole story, dialogues nad gameplay for this game.

The Beginner’s Guide

I played this game by Davey Wreden a few days ago. And I can’t stop thinking about it.

First of all, it’s not a game per se. It’s a collage of different levels made for different games, connected by the personality that created them. I don’t want to write too much, because I don’t want to spoil the experience for you.

Basically, it’s not a game you play for fun. It’s an essay about game development. Quite educational, by the way (the title “The Beginner’s Guide” has a lot of meanings).

But most of all, it’s about interpreting games. Treating them as art. As means of expression. And in this aspect it’s brilliant.

For me it’s wonderful to have a game, well, quasi-game, that poses all the important questions about the meaning of art. The sense of creating. I still ponder about different ideas The Beginner’s Guide put in my head. And I think that’s the best recommendation I can give.

If you are a game developer, you should go through this and see by yourself how meaningful your work can be.

That’s something.

Eventide: Slavic Fable

So the game I was working on won “Talk of the Town” award voted by casual games fans. Our game is also a runner up for the “Best Story” and “Best New Series” category! That last thing is particularly good, as we are working really hard now on the second part of the game. Also very Slavic, but more darker and serious.

You can see the announcement of the awards here.
